“All Your Sorrows Fade Away” — Rue Oberkampf Finds Sanctuary in the Forest in Video for “Darkness”

Munich-based darkwave duo Rue Oberkampf released their album Wehmut on October 15th via Young and Cold Records. The six-composition album incorporates dark folk, post-metal, and acoustic instrumentation alongside their established electronic arrangements, exploring the relationship between human vulnerability and nature. The band drew inspiration from walks through the Bavarian Forest and a container ship voyage. The single “Darkness” features acoustic guitar by Josip Tijan of THYMIAN and Julia de Jouy’s vocals, accompanied by synthesizers and woodland recordings. The accompanying video, directed by Jojo and Daniel Kilgus, was filmed at Lake Arbersee in the Bavarian Forest at dawn. The album examines what understanding becomes possible through silence and withdrawal from technology, presenting nature as offering sanctuary and significance to human grief.
