Red Mecca – I Will Be That Dying Star In Your Sky (Digital/Vinyl Album – Massproduktion)

Red Mecca, a Swedish band featuring Susanne Jonsson and Jan Strandqvist, has released a new album after a hiatus marked by personal difficulties including a murder in Jonsson’s family, relationship breakdown, and Strandqvist’s addiction struggles. The album balances understated, sensitive tracks with harder Synth-Pop style, featuring expertly crafted songs and refined vocals. The reviewer rates it 7½, noting it represents a significant and healing production despite lacking a definitive climax on some tracks. Red Mecca was founded by Strandqvist, originally with vocalist Frida Madeleine before Jonsson’s replacement. The band has released three albums on Massproduktion since 2019 and won a 2016 Swedish Manifest Award.
