San Francisco-based post-punk band Octavian Winters, formed during the pandemic in 2022, has released the single “By The Stars,” featured as Track of the Day by White Light White Heat. The four-piece ensemble—Ria Aursjoen on vocals and keyboards, Stephan Bryan Salit on guitar, Jay Denton on bass, and Randy Gzebb on drums—crafts atmospheric dark guitar-driven soundscapes blending shoegaze and post-punk elements. “By The Stars” is an ethereal ballad exploring life stages and overcoming fear through surrender and acceptance, built on heavy bass and drums with layered reverb-drenched guitars and call-and-response vocals. The group, working with producer William Faith on a sophomore EP due summer 2026, follows their 2023 debut EP “The Line or Curve.” Octavian Winters performed at Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig on May 22, 2025, and previously appeared at New York’s A Murder of Crows festival.
