Spike, the synth-pop project of London-based composer and experimental musician Hannah McLoughlin, has unveiled “Disappear,” the lead single from her forthcoming self-titled debut album arriving July 31, 2026 on Gob Nation. The track exemplifies British synth-pop tradition reminiscent of Rose McDowell, Chris & Cosey, and Fad Gadget, blending 80s-inflected production with shimmering synths, driving rhythms, and McLoughlin’s soulful vocals that oscillate between melancholy and euphoria. Accompanying the release is a 16mm film by Matilda Butler, filmed throughout London, featuring McLoughlin in contrasting aesthetics—feminine white dress and edgy leather trench coat—against symbolic backdrops including theatrical stages, underground transit, and reflective waters, visually interpreting the song’s thematic preoccupation with disappearance. A live performance is scheduled for September 5, 2026 at the George Tavern in London.
